With the initial shipment from Rostec already delivered, this new advanced weapon will allow the Russian military's artillery to eliminate any adversary rapidly and conclusively.
Rostec, the Russian state conglomerate and its largest weapons producer, has delivered the first shipment of the new "Phlox" - 120mm self-propelled artillery guns on a wheeled base - to the Russian military. The gun is constructed on a highly capable, cross-country protected vehicle chassis, enabling it to shift firing locations with extreme rapidity after firing a few shots, the company said.
According to Bekkhan Ozdoyev, Rostec's industrial director at the complex for conventional weapons, ammunition, and special chemicals, the new weapon functions as both a cannon and a mortar, allowing it to fire both shells and mines without any decrease in speed.

"Phlox has enhanced mobility and protection, while maintaining a practical balance between manual and automated operations to simplify the crew's work. Additionally, its affordable price has driven demand among the troops," Ozdoyev said.

The firing rate of the "Phlox" allows for a coordinated attack mode, firing multiple shells at different elevations to achieve maximum effectiveness against a target. The weapon can transition rapidly from marching to firing positions in less than one minute.
Furthermore, the chassis experiences reduced loads during firing. "Phlox" is a purpose-built artillery battery gun designed to destroy enemy personnel, hardware, and equipment within the battalion's assigned area. It shares ammunition compatibility with "Vena" model guns, enabling the use of higher-powered munitions for an increased firing range. The "Phlox" includes an armored cockpit and ammunition compartments, providing improved protection for the crew and ammo while in motion or changing position.
