India's Cutting-Edge Quantum-Technology Will Boost Green Hydrogen Usage
14:14 11.10.2023 (Updated: 10:31 15.10.2023) The new high-quantum-backed green hydrogen production technology would be useful in a wide range of applications from various sectors across energy production, automobiles and agriculture.
The University in Varanasi on Wednesday unveiled a new high-quantum-backed green hydrogen production technology with an aim to boost green hydrogen production in bulk.
The new
innovative technology powered by green hydrogen was developed by
Dr Somenath Garai and
Professor Srikrishna of the Green Keplerate Team at Banaras Hindu University, revolutionising energy generation to find the most eco-friendly energy alternative.
The team exhibited the wide range of
eco-friendly usage for green hydrogen and introduced a cutting-edge quantum-powered system that provides enhanced charge transfer capabilities, high proton availability, and mobility.
To maximise the capture of solar energy, the state-of-the-art photochemical-reactor design features built-in illumination assembly and external concave reflective panels.
With the use of an electron injector mechanism that uses industrial metal waste, the team
ingeniously engineered a continuous electron-coupled proton supply system.
After rigorous optimisation, the team achieved an impressive production rate of approximately 1 litre per minute of green hydrogen for every 10 grams of quantum photocatalysts at the laboratory scale.
Because of the high purity of the
hydrogen gas produced, the fuel can be used without further purification, making the technology even more cost effective.
Funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the patent of this technology has yet to receive approval.
