Ababeel Missile Test Backfires, Rocket Falls in Balochistan: Pakistani Media

A statement from the Pakistan Army Public Relations Department reportedly said that Pakistan had successfully tested the Ababeel weapon system on Wednesday.
According to the ISPR, various designs, technical parameters and performance were observed during the trial and various sub-aspects of the weapon system were also tested.
According to unconfirmed reports on social media, the test allegedly went wrong and the missile fell in Balochistan. The missile was reportedly test-fired from a secret location, but lost its way and fell in the Phelawagh area of Dera Bugti, where its debris was reportedly discovered.
Locals living in the area reportedly witnessed something falling from the sky from which smoke was coming out and it fell in the nearby fields.

According to Pakistani media, the launch was witnessed by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division and Strategic Forces Command, scientists and engineers from strategic organisations.
The Ababeel missile was developed by Khan Research Laboratories, Pakistan's largest science & tech hub, commonly associated with Pakistan's nuclear program. As per reports, it has the maximum range of 2,200 km.
The missile was first test-fired back in 2017. According to media reports, no Ababeel missile has been deployed since then.
