Avihai Edri, the representative of the Israel Defense Forces, provided an update to Sputnik regarding the current situation and military plans:
Israel has implemented a comprehensive blockade of the Gaza Strip, and the matter of humanitarian aid is being addressed through political channels within Israel and between nations.
Tragically, citizens from 42 countries were killed or taken hostage during the Hamas attack, and the possibility of employing military means to secure their release cannot be ruled out.
Israel is prepared to initiate a ground operation in Gaza at a time of its choosing and will persist until the objectives are accomplished.
While Israel lacks specific information regarding Iran's involvement in the Hamas operation, there is "evidence" indicating Tehran's support for the movement.
