India has sent nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid to the people of Palestine as the Israel-Hamas war continues, the Indian Government's External Affairs Ministry said on Sunday."The material includes essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, water purification tablets among other necessary items," he added.Last week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the President of Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas on phone and sent his condolences for the deaths of civilians at a hospital in Gaza while reiterating India's long-standing "principled position" on the Israel-Palestine issue.Modi also told Abbas that New Delhi would continue to send humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people.On 7 October Hamas attacked Israel with a barrage of rockets and launched a bloody attack on neighbouring towns and now, because of retaliatory actions by the Israelis, 100,000 people are suffering. The United Nations (UN), which has been trying hard to get help to struggling people for days together, was able to send some of the trucks laden with relief material only on Saturday.

India Sends Humanitarian Aid To War-Affected Residents Of Palestine
An Indian Air Force plane carrying tonnes of medical aid and disaster relief material for the people of Palestine departed for El-Arish airport in Egypt.
India has sent nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid to the people of Palestine as the Israel-Hamas war continues, the Indian Government's External Affairs Ministry said on Sunday.
"India sends humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine. An IAF C-17 flight carrying nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for the people of Palestine departs for El-Arish airport in Egypt," ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said on X (formerly Twitter).
"The material includes essential life-saving medicines, surgical items, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, water purification tablets among other necessary items," he added.
