Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been performing Shastra Pooja with soldiers on the Hindu festival of Dussehra. This year, the Pooja was announced in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will celebrate Dussehra with Indian Army soldiers in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

“Today, 23rd October, I shall be reaching Tezpur on a 2 day visit to Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. During my visit, I will interact with Armed Forces personnel deployed in the region and also visit forward areas. Looking forward to celebrate Dussehra with the soldiers in Tawang,” Singh wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Monday.

The minister will also perform Shastra Pooja (worship of weapons). The Defence Minister has been performing the Hindu prayer, Shastra Pooja, with Indian soldiers on Dusshera for many years. Last year, he performed rituals at the Auli military station in Uttarakhand.
Singh is also expected to visit some forward posts in the region and interact with locals and soldiers.
Tawang is a strategically important location for India, which is also close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Last year, Indian and Chinese soldiers engaged in a face-off that resulted in injuries on both sides here in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, a north-eastern state of India. The situation has since been brought under control.
In October, the military commanders of China and India conducted their 20th round of Corp Commander-level talks at the border of Chushul-Moldo in the Ladakh region.
As per the statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, the two sides exchanged views in a “frank, open and constructive manner”.
