After the sudden attack by Hamas on October 7, Israel initiated massive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and is now gearing up for a ground operation as part of Operation Iron Swords.
Israel rejects the UN General Assembly's call for a ceasefire and plans to eliminate Palestinian group Hamas, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said.
"We reject outright the UN General Assembly despicable call for a ceasefire. Israel intends to eliminate Hamas just as the world dealt with the Nazis and ISIS," Cohen wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Islamic State terrorist organization, also known as ISIS, is banned in Russia.

Israeli Defense Minister Announces New Phase of Military Action in Gaza
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Saturday announced the next stage of the operation in the Gaza Strip, which is set to continue until a new order.
"We have moved on to a new phase in the war … [The military action] will continue until a new order is issued," Gallant was quoted as saying by the Haaretz newspaper.

Israel Defense Forces Says Struck 150 Underground Targets in Northern Gaza Strip Overnight
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Saturday that it had conducted an overnight activity in the northern Gaza Strip and struck 150 underground targets, including tunnels and other underground infrastructure.
"Overnight, IDF fighter jets struck 150 underground targets in the northern Gaza Strip, including terror tunnels, underground combat spaces and additional underground infrastructure," the IDF said on Telegram.
The Israeli military also said that "several Hamas terrorists" had been killed.
