The medical professionals in Pakistan's capital city have objected to the government's move of introducing officials from the country's military to administer two premier medical institutions. The Islamabad-located Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has called upon the federal Health Ministry to “refrain” from appointing serving military officials as top officials for Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital.The opposition came after federal Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHS,R&C) requested the Defense Ministry to provide "qualified and capable hospital managers of equivalent grade BPS 21" from the Pakistan Army Medical Corps, Pakistani media reported on Monday. It has been desired that the military officials should serve for three years. The ministry has stated that its objective is to provide better health facilities to the people at large through the help of "competent officials".However, during a meeting, the PMA Islamabad "condemned' a letter sent by the federal health ministry to seek the appointment.
