Delhi State Chief Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by ED on 30 October in a money laundering case linked to now-scrapped liquor policy. He was asked to appear for questioning on 2 November.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator and Delhi government minister Atishi on Tuesday said that even if the party’s national convenor and state hief Arvind Kejriwal is arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he would still run the government from jail.
The AAP has been of the view that ED will arrest Kejriwal when he appears for questioning before the federal agency in the money laundering case linked to alleged liquor policy scam.
Kejriwal held a meeting with the legislators of the party today in Delhi which was attended by ministers in the government including Atishi.
“We are going among the people. The people are saying that atrocities are being committed against the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal. That is why, all the MLAs requested the Chief Minister (CM) today that even if he goes to jail, he should remain the CM as the people of Delhi have elected him,” Atishi said after the meeting while talking to the reporters.
She further said that the party will move the court and seek permission to hold cabinet meeting in the jail itself.
Notably, Kejriwal had skipped the ED summon for questioning on 2 November and reached Madhya Pradesh to attend a poll rally.
Former Deputy State Chief Manish Sisodia is already in prison since 26 February after he was arrested in money laundering case related to alleged liquor policy scam.
