India cannot lower its guard and will have to be fully alert militarily at the LAC, as there is no sign of improvement in its relations with China, an expert believes.
Indo-China relations, against the backdrop of heightened tensions on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) - the 3,488 km demarcation line that separates the two, may not warm up any time soon, an expert says.
Speaking to Sputnik India on the issue, Dr B.R. Deepak, professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), said the problem is "complex" and there seems to be no quick solution to it at the moment.

"China wants India to accept the new equations at the LAC but India is not ready to accept it," the expert said, adding that India will have to be prepared militarily this winter too as there has been no significant change in the relations between the two neighbors.

He, however, said that it's always possible that the two nations make some agreements to reduce tension keeping the mutual interests in mind.
The professor was also of the view that the relations between the two giant Asian powers get affected by international politics involving India and the US.
The professor also believed that ongoing interactions at various levels between the two nations is a strong step in the right direction, and it would help reducing the tension.
