Russia & India Collaborate To Produce Weapons For Indian Air Force: Rosoboronexport
12:02 14.11.2023 (Updated: 12:16 14.11.2023) Russia and India are working together to develop modern weapons for the Indian Air Force. The production of the aviation weapons is in line with the Narendra Modi-led government's flagship 'Make in India' policy.
Russian state organisation, Rosoboronexport, is in talks with Indian businesses to explore the possibility of jointly producing aviation weapons for the Indian Air Force, Alexander Mikheev, General Director at Rosoboronexport told Sputnik on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2023.
"Rosoboronexport is working with Indian private and state enterprises to organise joint production of aviation weapons and integrate them into India's existing aviation fleet," he said.
The
Russian official noted that Rosoboronexport has not been deterred by the stringent 'Make in India' regulations laid down by the Indian side which are designed to ensure that arms are produced as much as possible by Indian businesses.
Stressing the fact that Rosoboronexport has been operating under conditions similar to the 'Make in India' requirements long before it was put in place, he said: "We, together with Indian enterprises, have provided the Indian Ministry of Defense with Su-30MKI aircraft, tanks, other armored vehicles, and shells".
He added that there is a plant for producing
Kalashnikov AK-203 assault rifles, which eventually will reach total localisation.
