Indian Army Tests Revolutionary AI Gun Scope
The new technology for the Indian Army can easily turn a soldier into a marksman and help achieve a one-shot-one-hit capability.
The Indian Army is conducting trials on a smart scope that uses artificial intelligence and can detect targets up to 300 meters away. This technology has the potential to significantly improve close quarter and border operations.
Although the smart scope is still in the prototype stage, Lt Col Nipun Sirohi told Indian Media that a smaller version could also be produced.
The
locally-developed scope can be equipped to any small weapon, making it into a smart weapon.
"It is an AI-enabled smart scope that can detect moving human targets up to 300 meters. Using AI algorithms and sensory data, it can tell the shooter when to fire. It had an 80-90% accuracy when tested for 100-300 meters," said Sirohi.
Sirohi continued, "The scope can easily turn a soldier into a marksman and help achieve one-shot-one-hit capability."
According to the officer, ''the camera uses the laser and finder to check for alignment after the scope has detected the target and created a red bounding box (...) The shooter is informed that he can fire when the target box turns green," the officer noted.
Sirohi stated that although the scope can be used as a
night firing device, it can only fire during the day at this time. The daytime camera has a 30X zoom and a 50mm lens.
