Indian Army Unveils T-90 Tank Modernisation Plans
The Indian Army is in the process of modernising its military equipment. It has already announced plans to upgrade T-72 tanks and SU-30 MKI aircraft.
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved new technologies for the T-90 tanks, namely the Digital Ballistic Computer (DBC) and the Automatic Target Tracker (ATT), media reported.
This upgrade improves accuracy by eliminating the need for manual positioning.
Fine-tuning has been carried out to enhance the army's ability to effectively detect and engage enemy tanks, with particular emphasis on the ATT's remarkable tracking capability. In addition, the inclusion of DBC improves the accuracy of
ammunition trajectory calculations, taking into account atmospheric conditions to ensure precise hits.
Updates that will happen to the Indian Army's tank fleet:
The Indian Army is gradually replacing its T-72 tanks with 1,700 Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs) equipped with a battlefield management system.
It is also developing a further 475 T-90 tanks.
The existing tanks are being upgraded and integrated with the Advanced Targeting and Tracking (ATT) system.
