20:51 25.12.2023 (Updated: 10:46 26.12.2023) On 4 June, Ukrainian forces launched a so-called "counteroffensive". They were unable to penetrate the Russian tactical defence zone and suffered heavy losses in the direction of Zaporozhye.
Russian forces have completely liberated Maryinka in the Donetsk People's Republic, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told Vladimir Putin during a meeting.
“During the course of active offensive operations, the assault troops of the “South” group today completely liberated the village of Maryinka,” Shoigu said.
The Russian defence minister added that the liberation of Maryinka had made it possible to protect Donetsk more effectively from the fire of the Ukrainian forces.
