Jaishankar to Represent India at Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Uganda

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India at the NAM Summit in Uganda. He is expected to meet with the Ugandan leadership and counterparts from several other NAM member states.
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the two-day summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Uganda, which begins on Friday, an official statement said on Thursday.
The NAM Summit, which is being held in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, is expected to be attended by over 120 developing countries, it said.
Announcing Jaishankar's visit to Uganda and Nigeria, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the country remains committed to the principles and values of the NAM movement as one of the leading and founding members of the grouping.
"External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation at the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held in Kampala on January 19 to 20", the MEA said.
"Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence" is the theme of the meeting.
"India wholeheartedly supports Uganda's theme for NAM and looks forward to engaging with the NAM under Uganda's leadership. As one of the leading and founding members of NAM, India remains committed to the principles and values of the movement", the MEA statement added.
