His visit came a day before the consecration ceremony (Pran Pratishtha) of the Lord Ram idol in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya city, where the PM will be the chief guest.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Pranayam, prayed, and paid floral tribute at the seashore at Arichalmunai near Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Pranayam is a yoga practice focussing on breathing.

Modi, who stayed at Rameswaram overnight, drove to Arichalmunai, which is said to be the place from where the Ram Setu (also known as Adam's Bridge) was built.
The bridge was built with limestones believed to be connecting India's and Sri Lanka's shores. According to the legend, Rama reached the island of Lanka and rescued his wife, Sita, from Ravan.
On Monday, the Pran Pratishtha inauguration ceremony will be held in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. It is expected to be attended by nearly 8,000 guests — including seers and prominent personalities. The Uttar Pradesh Police Force has beefed up security in the temple town, and more than 13,000 security personnel were deployed in the city.
Pran Pratishtha will commence at 12:20 pm and is anticipated to conclude by 1 pm. A 51-inch-tall idol of Lord Ram personifying his five-year-old self will be installed inside the sanctum of the grand temple.
Modi will end his three-day tour of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, during which he inaugurated the Khelo India Games 2023 in Chennai on Friday.
