The pilot of the Falcon 10 aircraft has refuted media claims that there was one million dollars onboard the plane that crashed in Afghanistan.
Afghan daily Hasht-e Subh had alleged some $1.2 million had been stolen from the aircraft.
Following the alleged theft, the Taliban*-appointed governor of Badakhshan province, formed a commission to investigate the incident on the orders of the head of Afghanistan's interim government, Mohammad Hasan Akhund, the newspaper reported.
The commission is led by the Taliban-appointed intelligence chief in the province, the sources said, adding that Taliban fighters close to the chief of staff of the Afghan armed forces were the first to arrive at the crash site.
The Falcon 10 plane with six people on board, four crew members and two passengers, was performing a charter sanitary flight from Thailand to Russia on Saturday evening, but stopped making contact and disappeared from radars while in the airspace of Afghanistan near the border with Tajikistan. Rescuers found the crashed plane the next day. Two passengers were found dead, while four crew members survived and received medical treatment in Kabul. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the plane crash.
