The BAPS Hindu Temple in the UAE is being hailed as a major symbol of "interfaith" relations. The plot of land for the Hindu temple was donated by the UAE President in 2018, according to temple authorities.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 13-14 February, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement on Saturday.
"Prime Minister will inaugurate the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. He will also be addressing the Indian community in the UAE at an event in Zayed Sports city in Abu Dhabi," the statement said.
During the visit, Modi will also hold a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss ways to deepen the strategic partnership between the countries and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, the MEA said.

Modi's visit would be his seventh to the UAE since 2015 and his third to the Gulf country in the last eight months, the Indian statement highlighted, adding that these visits signified deep political, economic and cultural links between the two nations.

"Following the landmark visit of Prime Minister Modi to UAE in August 2015, bilateral relations between the two countries been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both countries signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 and a Local Currency Settlement (LCS) System in July 2023 to promote the use of Indian Rupee and AED for cross-border transactions," the statement recalled.

Both India and UAE are among each others' top trading partners, with bilateral trade amounting to nearly $85 billion in 2022-23.
The 3.5 million-strong Indian diaspora in the UAE forms the largest expatraite group in the nation, the Indian statement noted.
