Pro-Khalistan supporters have desecrated the Indian national flag in Calgary, Ablerta, with swords, daggers, and spears during a protest organised by secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). Local reports further said that the incident was caught on camera outside a community event supposed to be attended by Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma. In the video shared by the Canadian media outlet Media Bezirgan, the SFJ activists can be seen tearing apart an Indian tricolour. They also shout pro-Khalistan slogans and create a ruckus. This led to a confrontation between pro-Khalistan activists and other pro-India groups present in the area. However, Canadian police intervened before the matter escalated. The flag desecration occurred a week after a pro-Khalistan group clashed with the police in Edmonton, where they had gathered to protest against Verma.
