Indian Oil Tycoon Mukesh Ambani Becomes First Asian to Enter $100 Billion Club

India's top three richest people in the 2024 Forbes list of the world’s billionaires also include trader Gautam Adani and tech giant Shiv Nadar.
Indian businessman and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani is India and Asia's richest man, according to 2024 Forbes list of the world’s billionaires.
With his net worth shooting up to $116 billion from $83 billion, the oil tycoon also became the first Asian to enter the $100 billion club.
According to the list, he retained his position as the ninth richest person in the world.
Chairperson of trading firm Adani Group Gautam Adani is the second richest Indian as he added $36.8 billion to his value with a total net worth of $84 billion.

As per the Forbes list, founder and Chairman of HCL Technologies Shiv Nadar is the third richest person in India with a total net worth of $36.9 billion, whereas the fourth richest person is Savitri Jindal, chairwoman emerita of O.P. Jindal Group, a conglomerate focusing on steel, mining, gas and the energy sector.

With a net worth of $33.5 billion, Jindal is India's richest woman, up from sixth place last year.
Founder of pharma giant Sun Pharmaceuticals Dilip Shanghvi has been ranked as the fifth richest Indian with a net worth of $26.7 billion. Likewise, Cyrus Poonawalla, chairman and managing director of Cyrus Poonawalla Group which includes the Serum Institute of India (largest vaccine manufacturer in the world) and leading non-banking financial company Poonawalla Fincorp, has been ranked as the sixth richest Indian with a net worth of $21.3 billion.
Meanwhile, CEO of real estate company DLF, Kushal Pal Singh, has been placed at number seven in the list of top 10 Indian billionaires as he holds a net worth of $20.9 billion, whereas Kumar Birla, chairman of Aditya Birla Group - whose business interests include mining, fashion, retail, financial services, and renewables - is at number eight with a net worth of $19.7 billion.
Apart from this, founder and chairman of retail chain Avenue Supermats Limited, Radhakishan Damani, with a net worth of $17.6 billion is placed at number nine and executive chairman of ArcelorMittal, the world's second-largest steel company, Lakshmi Mittal whose net worth is $16.4 billion, is the tenth richest Indian in the list.
