17:49 09.04.2024 (Updated: 20:00 09.04.2024) In FY24, Russia supplied 1.57 million barrels per day, a significant increase from 1 million barrels per day in the previous year.
Russian oil accounted for 35% of India's total imports, up sharply from 23% a year earlier, according to energy cargo tracker Vortexa.
Despite discounts and sanctions from the G7 countries, Russia continues to dominate India's oil imports in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, major suppliers such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the US saw their market share fall, according to an ET report.
Iraq's share fell to 20%, Saudi Arabia's to 15%, the UAE's to 6% and the US's to 3.5%.
In terms of supply volumes,
