Russia Hands Over Equipment for Modernisation of Airports to India
Russia and India share long-standing bilateral relations. Recently, the relations between both the countries have strengthened as Russia has emerged as one of the major trade partners.
The Russian Research and Production Association "Radio Technical Systems" (NPO RTS) has handed over the manufactured equipment for modernisation of airports to India, the Russian Embassy in India said.
“The Russian manufacturer has signed a contract for the delivery of radio-technical equipment in the second quarter of 2022. Despite the size of the deal, which has become the largest in the world practice in recent years, the Russian side produced the ordered equipment in a short time and confirmed its compliance with the customer's requirements during the acceptance. The first landing systems delivered under the agreement have already been put into operation,” the embassy said.
Notably, NPO RTS has completed the production of 34 sets of instrument landing systems (ILS 734) for the modernisation of 24 airports under the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
“Four batches of equipment have been shipped and deliveries are scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2024,” the embassy stated.
Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, noted that “the successful implementation of agreements with AAI by NPO RTS is a tangible contribution to the modernisation of India's airport infrastructure”.
“We look forward to further strengthening the position of the Russian company in the local dynamic market. This will contribute to the expansion of high-tech cooperation between our countries,” the Ambassador said.
