India's domestic air traffic has set a new record with the flux of over 0.47 million passengers arriving in a single day, Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation data revealed.The domestic aviation sector is currently experiencing a phenomenal surge in growth due to favorable policies, robust economic development, and the rapid expansion of low-cost carriers, The Civil Aviation Ministry said.The recent new high marks a substantial increase compared to the domestic air traffic of 428,389 passengers and 5,899 flights recorded on the same day in 2023.According to recent data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), domestic airlines carried 39.146 million passengers during January-March 2024, compared to 37.504 million during the same period last year. This marks an impressive annual growth rate of 4.38 percent and a monthly growth rate of 3.68 percent.With the increasing accessibility of air travel, the aviation industry is poised to maintain its upward trajectory, officials said in a statement.
