India joins in celebrating Victory Day by raising a replica of the Red Victory Banner at the building of the Russian House in Kolkata, West Bengal.The chairwoman of the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC), Elena Barman, said in the media statement that ahead of Victory Day, the Russian House in Kolkata joined the memorial patriotic campaign 'Victory Banner'.Besides the IARC, the event was organized by the Immortal Regiment of India and the Russian House.On May 1, 1945, the storm flag of the 150th Order of Kutuzov II Degree Idritsa Rifle Division was hoisted over the Reichstag building.The Victory Banner stands as the official symbol of the victory of the Soviet people and its Armed Forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, a state relic of Russia.

16:14 27.04.2024 (Updated: 16:16 27.04.2024) On 9 May every year, Russia commemorates Victory Day, marking the Soviet Union's triumph over Nazi Germany during World War II in 1945 and expressing gratitude to millions of soldiers who lost their lives.
India joins in celebrating Victory Day by raising a replica of the Red Victory Banner at the building of the Russian House in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The chairwoman of the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC), Elena Barman, said in the media statement that ahead of Victory Day, the Russian House in Kolkata joined the memorial patriotic campaign 'Victory Banner'.
"As part of the campaign, banners are being placed on the facades of buildings in anticipation of Victory Day. Indians understand and appreciate our country's contribution to the victory over fascism," Barman said.
Besides the IARC, the event was organized by the Immortal Regiment of India and the Russian House.
