A major diplomatic row has erupted between India and Canada after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau indicated that Indian “agents” could have been behind the killing of pro-Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June.

Three Indian nationals were previously arrested by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team on May 3 on suspicion of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Canadian police have arrested one more Indian national as a suspect in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), the largest homicide unit in Canada said in a statement that it had arrested Amandeep Singh (22), a resident of the Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford areas of Canada on Saturday.
Singh has been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
The IHIT further said that Singh was already in the custody of the Peel Regional Police for unrelated firearms charges.

“This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar," said Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, the Officer in Charge at IHIT.

IHIT arrested three other Indians in relation to Nijjar’s killing on May 3 – Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh.
Nijjar was killed outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18, 2023.
