Ukraine has lost up to 290 soldiers in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in battles with Russia's Yug (South) group of forces over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

"The enemy has lost up to 290 military personnel, two armored combat vehicles and two vehicles. Russia's Dnepr group of forces eliminated up to 70 Ukrainian soldiers and destroyed a US-made 155-mm М777 howitzer, a 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, a 152-mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery unit, a 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit and a US-made M119 gun, according to the ministry's statement.
