Ukraine has lost up to 290 soldiers in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in battles with Russia's Yug (South) group of forces over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
"The enemy has lost up to 290 military personnel, two armored combat vehicles and two vehicles. In addition, a US-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, a UK-made 155-mm FH70 towed howitzer and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers were hit in counter-battery fighting. Three field ammunition depots of the Ukrainian armed forces were destroyed in a day," the ministry said, specifying that fighting took place near DPR villages of Kalinina, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Konstantinovka, Zaliznyanskoye and Pershe Travnya.
Ukraine also lost 125 soldiers in battles with Russia's Vostok (East) group of forces, as well as a tank, six vehicles, a US-made 155-mm M198 howitzer and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery mount, the ministry stated.
Russia's Dnepr group of forces eliminated up to 70 Ukrainian soldiers and destroyed a US-made 155-mm М777 howitzer, a 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, a 152-mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery unit, a 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit and a US-made M119 gun, according to the ministry's statement.
