The Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos expects to sign at least two export contracts for its flagship cruise missiles by the end of this year, BrahMos export director Pravin Pathak told Sputnik India on the sidelines of the Fleet-2024 international naval exhibition.

In the meantime, BrahMos secured a $375 million contract with the Philippine Ministry of Defence in January 2022 for the delivery of three regiments of its eponymous missile system.

Following this successful export agreement, BrahMos has received numerous enquiries from potential customer nations.

During the Fleet 2024 International Maritime Defense Show (MVMS), Russian Navy commander-in-chief Alexander Moiseyev expressed confidence that participants would present cutting-edge designs, novel solutions, and state-of-the-art technologies from premier Russian and international military-industrial firms.

"I am certain that this unique platform has gathered the best designs of the best ship builders, designers and arms, military vehicle makers. We will establish a mutually beneficial cooperation and strike necessary contracts," Moiseyev noted.

Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma's defence committee, said in his speech that the MVMS exhibition was a direct response "to politicians who keep talking about Russia's isolation". It is the "same response as a battle group in the Western Atlantic, the Mediterranean and many other areas of the world's oceans," he added.

The Fleet 2024 is taking place from 19 to 23 June at the Congress and Exhibition Centre in port city of Kronstadt near Saint Petersburg. The event will see the participation of 225 industrial companies, with Sputnik acting as the official information partner of the exhibition.
