Modi's upcoming visit to Russia is expected to be his first full-fledged bilateral visit since assuming the Prime Ministership for third consecutive term earlier this month.
Preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia to co-chair the 22nd Annual Summit with President Vladimir Putin are underway, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told a regular media briefing in New Delhi on Friday.
Jaiswal said that there was a "well-established mechanism for bilateral summits" between Moscow and New Delhi.
The MEA spokesperson didn't reveal the specific dates of Modi's upcoming visit, though a news report published in Indian publication this week stated that the Indian leader would visit Moscow on 8 July.
Earlier, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told journalists on the sidelines of the Primakov Readings that Modi's trip to Russia was actively being prepared. The last Annual Summit between Russia and India took place in New Delhi in December 2021.
For his part, Modi last visited Russia to attend the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok in September 2019. During the visit, Modi and Putin also co-chaired the 20th India-Russia Annual Summit. In addition, India's prime minister visited Moscow in 2015.
Meanwile, the two leaders last met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Samarkand in September 2022.
