The Afghan Foreign Ministry said in a statement quoted by Ariana News that during his meeting with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Kabulov discussed bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Russia, particularly economic cooperation, investment, and transit.Muttaqi called relations with Russia important, emphasising that these ties should be expanded, including in economic and trade cooperation. He highlighted the significance of high-ranking official visits to Kabul, noting that many officials have been invited to Russia over the past year to participate in international meetings.Kabulov was quoted as saying that Russia aims to expand its relations with Afghanistan in the economic and trade sectors.Discussions between the nations about removing the Taliban* from Russia's terrorist list are still ongoing.The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, overthrowing the US-backed government as US and NATO troops were withdrawing after nearly 20 years of military presence.
