The oldest Indian social organisation in Russia, Hindustani Samaj, has been honoured with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (PBS) Award by the Indian government, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).The award is presented by India’s president to individuals of Indian origin, organisations, and institutions in recognition of their outstanding achievements both in India and overseas.Hindustani Samaj is the oldest Indian socio-cultural organisation in Russia. Established in 1957, it has played a significant role in promoting Indian culture and heritage in the country. Its founders included the legendary literary figures Bhishma Sahni and Madan Lal Madhu, the Indian Embassy in Russia noted on its Telegram channel.The PBS Award has also been conferred on Sudha Rani Gupta, director-general of the Interregional Public Organisation for Promoting the Unity of Civilisations, Cultures, and Religions, Centre for Spiritual Development, based in Moscow. Gupta is also the author of books in Russian on spiritual and family values.
