Jaishankar to Represent India at Trump's Inauguration

Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony will be held in Washington DC on January 20.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent the country at US president-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony.

"At the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inauguration Committee, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States," a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) read.

The MEA noted that during his visit, Jaishankar will also meet members of the new administration and other high-ranking officials attending the event.
Donald Trump, who previously served as US President from 2017 to 2021, won the presidential election on November 5 — becoming the first leader since the 19th century to return to the White House after a four-year gap.
Trump's victory was confirmed by Congress on January 6. The inauguration will take place on January 20.
