NEW DELHI (Sputnik) - Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to pay a one-day visit to Russia on March 7, the Hindustan Times reported on Wednesday.
Misri is set to participate in the annual bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries, the media informed, citing people familiar with the matter.
Misri is also expected to meet with senior Russian leadership, the newspaper said. The discussions will reportedly touch upon expanding trade and investment, namely enhancing Indian exports to Russia, and maintaining Russian energy supplies to India amid Western sanctions restricting Russian oil exports.
The visit will also provide an opportunity for Russia to brief India on recent efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, the Hindustan Times said.
According to the newspaper, Russia is among the top two largest energy suppliers to India. Apart from that, trade volume between Moscow and New Delhi currently stands at around $66 billion. Last year, the countries set a bilateral trade target of $100 billion by 2030.
