WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - Ukraine "may not survive" the conflict with Russia even with the support of the United States, President Donald Trump has said in an interview with Fox News.
"Well, it may not survive anyway. But you know, we have some weaknesses with Russia. You know, it takes two. It was not gonna happen, that war. And it happened. So now we are stuck with this mess," Trump said when asked if Ukraine might survive without US support.
A US Defence Department spokesperson has told Sputnik that all military assistance to Ukraine was paused from 23:00 GMT on Monday. On Wednesday, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed that there was a pause in US military aid to Ukraine and said it could be lifted if negotiations on the rare earths deal succeeded.
Western countries have ramped up their military aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia's military operation in February 2022. Russian officials have warned that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russian strikes.
