MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin expresses his deep condolences to Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing in connection with the tragic consequences of the earthquake in the regions of the country, the Kremlin said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar, with tremors being felt in five neighboring countries, including Thailand. The Nation newspaper reported that airports throughout Thailand had suspended operations due to a powerful earthquake in the region.
"Dear Mr. Prime Minister, please accept my deep condolences in connection with the tragic consequences of the earthquake in the Sagaing and Mandalay administrative regions. Russia shares the grief of the friendly people of Myanmar. I ask you to convey my sincere sympathy and support to those who have lost their loved ones, and wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by this natural disaster," the message of condolences said.
