Sputnik India is reporting live from the sixth edition of the BIMSTEC Summit, which officially began this morning in Bangkok, Thailand.
The sixth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multisectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit officially began this morning in Bangkok, Thailand.
The leaders from nations around the Bay of Bengal are gathering to discuss regional cooperation. The summit will address economic challenges, regional connectivity, and trade issues.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive tomorrow, and leaders are expected to adopt the Bangkok Vision 2030 and sign key agreements, including a maritime transport deal.
Meanwhile Nepalese Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, who already arrived, Bangladesh Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, and Myanmar’s leader General Aung San Suu Kyi are also attending.
The summit also comes amid the recent 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar.
