Work Underway to Restore Direct Flights Between Russia, US: Russian Envoy
11:55 04.04.2025 (Updated: 12:31 04.04.2025) MOSCOW, April 3 (Sputnik) - The work is underway to restore direct flights between Russia and the United States, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO and Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev said on Thursday.
"Active work is underway to restore direct flights. We hope to make progress on this issue," Dmitriev told reporters.
Earlier, the envoy said that he has held meetings with Trump administration officials to discuss ways to restore relations between the United States and Russia.
"In the past two days, I have been meeting in Washington with key members of the Trump administration on behalf of [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin. A primary focus of these discussions has been the restoration of Russian-American relations and the reestablishment of dialogue, which was entirely halted during the Biden administration," Dmitriev told reporters.
There are numerous actors and countries that attempt to hinder this dialogue, obstruct the restoration of Russian-American relations, and prevent the resolution of critical issues that need to be addressed, he highlighted.
The new US administration led by US President Donald Trump hears Russia's position and aims to resolve all spectrum issues of bilateral relations, the RDIF stressed.
