"By the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and based on humanitarian considerations, a ceasefire is declared for the period of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day – from midnight on May 8 to midnight on May 11. During this time, all combat operations will cease," the Kremlin statement says.The Russian side once again affirms its readiness for peace talks without preconditions, aimed at addressing the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and for constructive cooperation with international partners.

Russia Declares Truce for 80th Anniversary of Victory Day
17:06 28.04.2025 (Updated: 17:12 28.04.2025) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a ceasefire from midnight on May 8 until midnight on May 11 during the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, the Kremlin said on Monday.
"By the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and based on humanitarian considerations, a ceasefire is declared for the period of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day – from midnight on May 8 to midnight on May 11. During this time, all combat operations will cease," the Kremlin statement says.
Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example, and in the event of ceasefire violations by the Ukrainian side, the Russian armed forces will give an adequate and effective response, the statement read.
