The perpetrators and organisers of the Pahalgam terror attack must be held accountable, said India's EAM Subrahmanyam Jaishankar following a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"Yesterday, I discussed the Pahalgam attack with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Those responsible, their backers, and the organisers must be held accountable," Jaishankar wrote on social media platform X.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after a terrorist attack near the town of Pahalgam in the Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. The attack was claimed by a group called the "Resistance Front," linked to the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba*. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
