MOSCOW, (Sputnik) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call on 80th anniversary of Victory Day, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said on Monday.
"PM [Modi] conveyed greetings to President Putin on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and invited him for the Annual Summit to be held in India later in the year," Jaiswal said on X.
Modi noted that this occasion holds special significance for both nations, as Victory Day is a shared celebration, the Kremlin said in a statement. The Indian leader confirmed that an official Indian delegation would participate in the commemorative events in Moscow, it added.
During the conversation, President Putin expressed his heartfelt condolences over the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, southern Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of several Indian citizens. Both leaders condemned the brutal act and highlighted the need for unwavering action against terrorism in all its forms, according to the Kremlin.
