The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is set to begin tomorrow, with over 20,000 participants from 140 countries confirmed to attend, according to Yuri Ushakov, aide to the President of Russia.
Speaking ahead of the forum’s opening, Ushakov highlighted the scale and diversity of this year’s event, which continues to serve as a key platform for international dialogue and economic collaboration.
The forum’s agenda includes more than 150 events, notably forums of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS, and a regional business forum of the G20. These discussions are expected to address global economic challenges, regional development, and opportunities for strategic cooperation.
Political leaders and government officials from around 50 countries are expected to take part. Delegations from Indonesia, South Africa, China, Iraq, Vietnam, and Laos are among those confirmed.
A key event of the forum—the plenary session—will bring together several high-profile figures alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin. Scheduled participants include:
The President of Indonesia
A representative of Bahrain
The Vice Premier of the State Council of China
The Vice President of South Africa
Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions, representatives of American businesses are also expected to attend and take part in the forum’s sessions, reflecting continued economic interest and engagement from US enterprises.
SPIEF 2025 underscores Russia’s efforts to maintain and expand its economic partnerships across diverse regions, particularly in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
The forum will run from June 18 to 21.
