ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - World oil prices are not satisfactory for most major producers, so they will rise as the effect of "market shocks" levels out, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.
"Current world oil prices are a short-term consequence of the current market situation, taking into account the growing factor of trade wars and geopolitical tensions, and do not suit most key oil producers. Therefore, oil prices will be adjusted as the effect of 'market shocks' is leveled out and will take on an upward trend," Novak said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper ahead of the 2025 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
The Russian city of St. Petersburg will host the 28th edition of SPIEF from June 18-21 under the theme of "Shared Values: The Foundation of Growth in a Multipolar World." Rossiya Segodnya international media group, Sputnik's parent company, is the forum's information partner.
