Naidu told reporters that the preliminary report published by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Saturday only offers initial assessments and does not draw any firm conclusions.“I don’t think we should jump to conclusions just yet,” he said. The crash of the Air India Boeing 787 bound for Gatwick Airport south of the British capital London killed all but one of the 242 people on board and 19 more on the ground. Naidu also expressed his confidence in the Indian aviation profession.“I firmly believe that we have the best pilots and crew members in the world,” he said. The AAIB report suggests that fuel to both engines on the doomed airliner was cut off and then restored — but too late to save the aircraft from crashing into a medical students' residence. But it does not clarify whether that was caused by human error, mechanical failure or an electronic malfunction. Those key questions remain unanswered and continue to be the focal point of the ongoing investigation.

“I don’t think we should jump to conclusions just yet,” he said.
“We are working closely with the AAIB, providing all necessary support,” Naidu added. “We hope the final report will be released soon so we can reach a conclusion.”
