By the end of this year, a total of 70,000 rifles are expected to be supplied to the army, with a plan to produce 12,000 rifles per month starting next year, leading to an annual production of 150,000 rifles.Since the commencement of production, IRRPL has delivered 47,516 AK-203 rifles to the Indian Army within just 18 months.General Sharma emphasised that the feedback from soldiers and commanders using the rifles has been overwhelmingly positive, with all of them expressing full satisfaction with the weapon. The contract requires IRRPL to supply 601,427 AK-203 rifles to the Indian Army by 2032. However, there is a strong possibility that this order will be completed ahead of schedule, potentially by 2030, 22 months earlier than planned.Additionally, General Sharma confirmed that preparations are underway for the export of AK-203 rifles. The first importer is expected to be finalized soon. In 2021, India and Russia signed an agreement for technology transfer, enabling the production of AK-203 rifles in India. The first AK-203 rifle made in India rolled out of the factory on August 15, 2023. Kalashnikov rifles have long been a trusted weapon among Indian soldiers, and India has been using such rifles for decades. India to Complete Production of First 100% Indigenous AK-203 Rifle by Year-End
11:29 18.07.2025 (Updated: 13:56 18.07.2025) By December 31st this year, the first 100% indigenous AK-203 rifle, named "Sher," will be produced at the Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) factory near Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.
