Russian state space corporation Roscosmos chief Dmitry Bakanov has visited the Mission Control Center of the US segment of the International Space Station (ISS), Roscosmos informed.
Earlier this week, the head of the Russian space agency arrived in the US to meet with NASA management and the crew of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, which includes Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.
"On the first day of his working visit to the United States, Dmitry Bakanov and the Roscosmos delegation toured the Johnson Space Center [in Houston, Texas]," Roscosmos said in a Tuesday statement.
At the Mission Control Center of the US segment of the ISS, Bakanov met with the staff of the main operational group for controlling the flight of the Russian segment of the space station.
Roscosmos explained that the staff in Houston are needed "in case the Mission Control Center in Korolyov, near Moscow, is forced to hand over control to them for any reason."
The Russian delegation and the Roscosmos chief also visited the building where the ground simulator of the Russian and US segments of the ISS is located, as well as the space food laboratory.
The Roscosmos delegation also met with Russian cosmonauts who are currently preparing for flights: Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikayev and Pyotr Dubrov.
