Lucknow is preparing to become a key hub for the manufacturing of BrahMos missiles and next-generation weapon systems, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced following the success of Operation Sindoor.
Speaking at a public event in Varanasi, PM Modi highlighted how the operation showcased the strength of India’s indigenous defence capabilities to the entire world.

"During Operation Sindoor, the world witnessed the power of India's homegrown weapons. Our air defence systems, indigenous missiles, and drones have demonstrated the strength of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), particularly our BrahMos missiles," he said.

Modi further expressed pride as a Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, stating that BrahMos missile production will now take place in the state.
"Lucknow is set to begin manufacturing BrahMos missiles. Several major defence companies are also setting up plants in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. In the future, weapons made in UP—and across India—will become a vital strength for our armed forces," he added.
Addressing global economic uncertainties, PM Modi emphasized India’s resilience and its rise as a global economic powerhouse.
"Today, the world economy faces uncertainty. Many countries are focusing solely on their own interests. India, however, is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, and we must remain vigilant in safeguarding our economic interests," he concluded.
