ANKARA (Sputnik) - The Turkish side expects that a meeting of the leaders of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine in Turkey will take place soon, but there are no specific timelines or dates, the administration of the Turkish president told Sputnik.
On July 25, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he planned to discuss with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin their possible meeting in Istanbul. On July 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there were no substantive preparations for a possible meeting between the leaders, as there are no agreed contacts yet.
"There are no specific timelines; we expect that it will happen soon. But there are no specific dates," the administration said when asked about the likelihood of such a meeting before the end of the year.
When asked about the possibility of holding another, fourth round of talks in August, the administration said that there were no such signals yet, but expressed readiness to host them.
Russia and Ukraine have held three rounds of talks in Istanbul. The talks resulted in a prisoner swap, as well as the exchange of conflict settlement memorandums prepared in Moscow and Kiev.
On August 2, Putin said that Russia would stick to the terms of the settlement announced in the summer of 2024. Russian can wait for Kiev to get ready, Putin said, adding that it is necessary to discuss steps toward a lasting peace in Ukraine without any time constraints.
