Qatar, Egypt Await Israel's Response to Gaza Ceasefire Proposal - Qatari Foreign Ministry
CAIRO (Sputnik) - Egypt and Qatar are awaiting Israel's response to the proposed two-month ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after it was backed by the Palestinian movement Hamas, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said on Tuesday.
"Qatar and Egypt have received Hamas' consent to the proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. We are awaiting a response from the Israeli side," he said.
Al Ansari added that no specific time frame had been set and that Israel was looking into the proposal.
On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's adviser Dmitry Gendelman confirmed to Sputnik that Israel had received Hamas' response to the proposed ceasefire and hostage release deal.
