The governments of India and China are committed to enhancing cooperation in every domain, according to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We will earnestly adhere to the important agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen interaction and cooperation in all areas, and promote the steady development of China-India relations, bringing more benefits to the people of both nations," said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, following his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on August 19.
Wang Yi emphasized that China, together with India, intends to make a significant contribution to the progress of humanity by leveraging the shared heritage of both civilizations. He reminded that the bilateral relations between China and India have experienced both highs and lows, and it is crucial to learn from this history.
"Regardless of the situation, both sides should maintain a correct approach, viewing each other as partners, not rivals, and striving for a stable resolution of disagreements, without allowing border disputes to affect overall bilateral relations," Wang Yi stressed.
He further noted that, given the current international situation, the strategic importance of China-India relations is becoming increasingly significant.
