He highlighted that Indian wines benefit from affordability, consistent quality, and wide variety, as they are produced across multiple regions of India. Initial supplies would likely target Moscow, before expanding to other regions of the country. Vaghela added that, in the long term, Indian wines could compete with exports from other non-Western producers, which are steadily gaining popularity in Russia.

Affordable Indian Wines Could Find Strong Market in Russia: Indian Businessman
Indian wines may prove competitive in Russia thanks to a combination of price and quality, according to Sanjay Vaghela, trade promotion manager at wine supplier Good Drop, who spoke to Sputnik during the WorldFood Moscow 2025 exhibition.
“We are still studying the market, but Russia is drawing attention not only for tea exports, but also for wine,” Vaghela said.
“This would not happen immediately, but over time – certainly. Other countries simply established a winemaking culture earlier,” he explained.
