India-Russia Trade to Maintain Growth Momentum - Head of Russian Export Centre
India-Russia trade is set to continue its dynamic growth, said Mamed Akhmedov, head of the Russian Export Centre (REC, VEB Group) office in India.
Speaking at the "Russian-Indian Business Dialogue" roundtable during the International Trade Show UT in Uttar Pradesh, Akhmedov highlighted the ongoing expansion of economic ties between the two nations.
"Russia is currently the fourth largest trading partner of India and the second largest supplier. The potential for mutual trade remains immense, and the trend towards deeper bilateral economic cooperation will persist," Akhmedov stated. He also pointed to the remarkable, unprecedented growth in Russian-Indian trade in recent years.
Akhmedov further noted that the structure of trade between the two countries is shifting. Russian exports to India are now moving beyond the energy sector, with a noticeable increase in non-resource goods. Items such as sunflower oil, fertilisers, timber industry products, peas, industrial machinery, and other manufactured goods are seeing rising demand in the Indian market.
